Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada B. Ramanath Rai has said that action against persons conspiring attacks in Bantwal is under serious consideration.

“We are seriously considering action against persons behind the recent attacks in Bantwal. This will alone bring peace to the region. I am raising this issue before Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday,” Mr. Rai told reporters here on Thursday.

Mr. Rai said that fundamentalist groups belonging to two communities were trying to disturb peace in the region. “You know about the groups that are involved and I am not going to name them.” None from the Congress were involved in the recent attacks. “We stand by our secular principles, which will help us stand in good stead in the forthcoming elections,” he said.

Mr. Rai said that the convention of party workers from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Madikeri on Friday will go on smoothly.
