As many as 3,014 students wrote the preliminary examination of the Karnataka Public Service Commission for the posts of gazetted probationary officers.

As many as 6,084 candidates had selected Mangaluru as a centre. The examination was held across 12 places in the city.

According to a press release, 3,014 candidates wrote the first paper in the morning, while 3,070 remained absent.

As many as 2,971 candidates wrote the second paper, while 3,113 were absent. Security arrangement had been made for all the examination centres, the release said.

This was the first time that Mangaluru was selected as a centre for the examination. Earlier, candidates from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi had to go to Bengaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Belagavi or Kalaburagi.
