27-year-old Infosys employee killed

A 27-year-old employee of Infosys in Mudipu died due to injuries sustained after he reportedly fell from the motorcycle he was driving on Friday morning. According to Konaje police, Nitin Kumar, a resident of Farangipet, was driving towards Infosys campus in Mudipu. He reportedly lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid a dog that crossed the road near Lions Club’s office. He sustained an injury to the head and was moved to a private hospital nearby, where he succumbed in the evening.

Man dies in truck collision

A man died after a truck reportedly collided into his truck on National Highway 75 (Bangalore-Mangalore) on Thursday. According to the Puttur Rural Police, the accident reportedly happened around 11.30 p.m.

Case of cheating

A resident of Shirady near Puttur has accused the manager of a travel firm of cheating him of a job in Singapore. In a complaint filed with the Barke police, Sujit Agastya said the firm had assured him of a job in a hospital in Singapore. He paid Rs. 2 lakh to the firm and anoter one lakh on May 17. He has so far not got air tickets to Singapore. The manager and the owner of the firm are not accessible. The police have registered a case.

Body of Kadapa boy who drowned found

The body of a teenager from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, who drowned in the rough sea, off Ullal beach on the outskirts of Mangalore on Wednesday, was found, the police said. Mustaq (15) was part of a group of 20 pilgrims from four families from Kadapa, who came to the city to visit Syed Madani Dargah in Ullal. After visiting the dargah, the tourists came down to the beach on Wednesday evening.

While playing on the beach, five of them, including Morunnissa (60) and Mustaq (15), were dragged into the sea. Three persons — Munni, Shakeela and Mustafah — were rescued and treated in a private hospital. Mustaq’s body was found only on Thursday, the police said.

Rival gang hacks youth to death

A gang of four persons reportedly hacked to death an 18-year-old boy in front of his friend around noon in a lane near Kallurti ‘daivasthana’ at Urwa on Thursday. Urwa police said the youth, Sanjay alias Varuna, was son of Jagadish, who was involved in criminal cases.
