In a bizarre incident, a youth set on fire his friend (both male) after the accused came to know that the victim was likely to get married.
Police said the duo were working as lab technicians in different private hospitals and had been friendly. The mother of the victim sensed something wrong in their relationship and reprimanded the accused.
Meanwhile, the victim told the accused that his family was looking for a bride for him.
Enraged over this, the accused hit the victim with a boulder, doused him with spirit and set him on fire near Raja Mill Road on April 25.
The victim has been admitted to a private hospital with burn injuries on his limbs.
Sellur police arrested the accused, who was later remanded in custody.
