SIVAGANGA

A 28-year-old woman, who was missing since April 16, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a cashew farm near Puduvayal in Sivaganga district on April 17.

Police said here on Sunday that Suganya, daughter of Udayasuriyan of Pudukottai district, was living with her parents. She had reportedly gone to a nearby temple to have annadhanam food. Since she did not return home, her mother Bhuvaneswari lodged a complaint with Pudupatti police in Pudukottai district and in Sakkottai police in Sivaganga district.

When they got information that an unidentfied body of a woman was found in a cashew farm, the relatives rushed to the spot and identified it as their daughter.

Blaming the police for their nonchalant attitude, the family members staged a demonstration on the Pudukottai-Sivaganga road. A senior official said the deceased woman was not stable mentally for sometime. Only after the postmortem was conducted would they be in a position to know the cause of death. Further investigation is on.
