Wide range of handicrafts at Poompuhar fair

An arts and crafts fair showcasing a variety of handicrafts and artefacts from across the country has been put up by ‘Poompuhar’ at Chellam Soap Mahal on Kamarajar Salai here.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Corporation Commissioner G. Kathiravan on Wednesday. “There are wooden toys and artefacts made of white wood with intricate inlay carving. Gem stone paintings and wood art where layers of wood are carved with precision and framed have also been kept on display,” said A.N. Xavier, Manager of Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation’s showroom. A discount of 10 per cent was being offered on all products. The exhibition would be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days till March 17.
