Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday said that her government had undertaken a lot of developmental works in Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency in the last 33 months.
Addressing a public meeting for the Lok Sabha election campaign at Tiruthangal, she said that several projects have been sanctioned for Aruppukottai, Rajapalayam, Sivakasi, Sattur, Tirupparankundram and Tiruchizhi.
“To prevent accidents in fireworks and matches manufacturing units, a special training facility was created at a cost of Rs.2.37 crore in Sivakasi. Similarly, a separate treatment wing for treating burns victims was established at a cost of Rs.4.5 crore,” she said.
Industrial parkHer government had also planned setting up of an industrial park on 3,400 acres of land besides opening a new industrial training institute in Aruppukottai.
In Sattur, underground drainage works were taken up by spending Rs.37.66 crore.
A Siddha wing was opened in Rajapalayam Government Hospital.
Basic facilities had been provided at Tiruchuzhi where spiritual guru Ramana Maharshi was born, she said.
Thousands of party cadres turned up at Tiruthangal for the election campaign meeting. Ms.Jayalalithaa introduced party’s Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency candidate D. Radhakrishnan and appealed to the voters to cast their votes in his favour.
About 1,500 cadres from Vijayakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam joined the AIADMK in the presence of Ms.Jayalalithaa.
