Two women duped of gold

February 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - MADURAI:

In yet another incident of conmen relieving women of valuables, two women lost over three sovereigns of gold to two tricksters near Tirumangalam.

Police said two persons approached R. Vidhya at T. Kokkulam, while she was talking to her neighbour P. Paavathal (60) on Friday.

The two, who looked like north Indians, claimed that they could polish brass puja articles. The women gave them brass lamps which the two made glittering. Later, they managed to get a four-gram gold ring from Vidhya and three sovereigns of gold jewels from Paavathal.

After pretending to put the gold articles in water mixed with some powder in a tiffin box, they gave the utensil to them asking them to boil it for sometime. Only after the duo left, the women realised that they were duped and the gold was missing.

Based on a complaint lodged by them on Tuesday, Koodakoil police registered a case.
