Two killed in accidents

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents here on Monday.

Police said P. Shymol (36) from Vanchiyoor in Thiruvananthapuram, an Assistant Professor of a Puducherry-based law college, was going to Madurai in a car along with her husband Premjith and one-year-old son Abhishek.

When they were crossing Reddiyarpatti near Palayamkottai, the car overturned killing Shymol on the spot while Premjith, who was driving the car, and Abhishek sustained multiple injuries.

The father and the son were rushed to a private hospital at Vannarpet for treatment. They are said to be “out of danger”.

Traffic Investigation Wing police have registered a case.

In another incident, an engineering graduate M. Saravanan (22) of Mukkonam near Udumalaipet, working in a manufacturing unit at SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre at Gangaikondan, was fatally knocked down when a speeding lorry hit his bike on the Tirunelveli – Madurai national highway on Monday morning.

Gangaikondan police arrested the lorry driver Ganesh Kumar of R.R. Nagar in Virudhunagar.
