Three persons killed in two accidents

Two persons, including a two-year-old child, were killed and seven others injured when their van collided with a stationary lorry on National Highway-7 at Ammayanaickanur in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased were M. Subramani (29) of Pallipalayam near Tirupur and R. Tharun (2).

The injured were admitted to Dindigul Government Hospital.

On seeing a stationary lorry at a close distance, the police said, the van driver Raj Kumar attempted to turn the vehicle sharply in order to avoid collision, but the rear end of the van crashed against the lorry. The back portion of the van was completely damaged.

A total of 15 persons were travelling in a van to Rameswaram from Pallipalayam. The rest of them escaped with minor injuries.

One dies

In another accident, Senthil (26) of Pallapatti was killed on the spot when he hit a milestone on National Highway-7 near Pallapatti while riding a motor cycle along with his friend Sadayan (22) the same day.

Sadayan was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The body was removed to the Dindigul GH for post-mortem.
