Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) has been recognised for its excellence in education with Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC) Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award for the year 2013.
V. Abhaikumar, Principal, received the trophy for excellence from Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission, at a ceremony held in Mumbai on March 19. The award is presented to organisations that excel in the fields of manufacturing, services, small-scale business, education and healthcare. The citation has commended the TCE for its philanthropic approach of offering “Quality education at affordable cost.”
The best practices of learner-centric curriculum, research-based industry- academia partnership, special interest groups-based knowledge management, achieving close to 90 per cent placement and integrated online information management system had been appreciated, said a college press release.
The other winners include Reliance Industries, Jamnagar Refinery, Tata Housing Development Company, Yes Bank, Hindustan Zinc, Global Indian International School, Singapore, Jaya Shree Textiles, Sankara Eye Care Institutions, Ultra Tech Cement and Vikram Cement Works. S. Ramadorai, vice-chairman of Tata Consultancy Services, was awarded the IMC Juran Quality Medal 2013, added the release.
