Those who use the stretch of road that branches off from Panagal Road near Anna bus stand towards Kuruvikaran Salai say the first 30 metres of the road continues to be bad.

The road behind the Government Rajaji Hospital annexe has at least four deep pot holes. It is also located close to the Collectorate and the office of the Additional Collector. Despite the road being frequented by ambulances, it remains in this state for many months now, says R. Suresh, a tea shop worker.

An official from the Engineering department of the Madurai Corporation said that an estimate of ₹ 26 lakh has been approved by Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar for repairing roads in 16 wards. Patchwork would be done and the work will begin around December 15 when the monsoon withdraws, according to the official .
