Inspections in six mineral sand quarries in Kanyakumari district concluded on Saturday with officials shuffled into new teams conducting their ‘Super Check’ for violations of rules and norms in sand quarrying.

The teams led by Revenue Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi that conducted the inspections in quarries in Tirunelveli district on Thursday following the first round of inspection conducted between October 17 and 19, had camped in Nagercoil on Friday and Saturday. The teams inspected six quarries — two at Midaalam, one each at Kurumbanai, Rasthakaadu, Kanagappapuram and Leepuram.

After inspecting the quarries on Friday, the officials in the inspection teams were shuffled and deputed to different quarries for the Saturday’s ‘Super Check’.
