On Alagarkoil Road on an experimental basis from today

In their continued efforts to decongest traffic, taking into account the phenomenal explosion in vehicle population, the Madurai City police have decided to create traffic diversions on the arterial Alagarkoil Road on an experimental basis from Sunday.

The diversions are intended to prevent traffic congestion at Tamukkam Junction, which results in frequent hold ups.

According to a police press release, the following arrangement will be followed from Sunday:

No vehicle will be allowed to reach the Home Guards Office at Tallakulam, through Gokhale Road, from PTR Statue Junction.

All heavy vehicles from P and T Nagar and Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, which reached the Home Guards Office through P. T. From here, they will reach the Alagarkoil Road through PTR Statue Junction.

Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation buses from P and T Nagar and Mahatma Gandhi Nagar proceeding towards Narimedu and OCPM School bus stop should take a left turn at OCPM Junction to reach All India Radio Junction.

From here, they should take a right turn to Gokhale Road First Street and PTR Statue Junction to reach Alagarkoil Road.
