Four Railway Station Masters were allegedly assaulted by members of Southern Railway Mazdoor Union on the Divisional Railway Manager Office premises on Wednesday.

Demonstration

The police said that the Station Masters affiliated to All India Station Masters' Association organised a demonstration to protest the alleged assault on a lady Station Master at Melakonnakulam railway station on January 9.

They sought the arrest of those who “assaulted” the woman Station Master.

Quarrel

Even as the AISMA members, led by the divisional secretary, M. L. Mohan, were addressing the protestors, a few SRMU members picked quarrel with them for making “false” allegation against the union, which ended up in assaulting each other. Four Station Masters have been admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital.

The police said that six SRMU members were picked up for an enquiry. SRMU Divisional Secretary, J.M. Rafi, said that six members of his union were injured.
