There were no reports of malpractice in the educational districts of Madurai, Melur and Usilampatti during the exams conducted from March 26 to April 9.

According to Chief Educational Officer C. Amuthavalli, evaluation of answer sheets will commence on Wednesday itself.

“We are tentatively planning to wind up the process by April 19. Papers will be evaluated at R.C. Sirumalar School, Usilampatti, and Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School and CEOA School in Madurai,” she said.

Nearly 44,700 regular candidates and 1,140 private candidates had written the SSLC examinations at 28 centres in Usilampatti educational district, 38 centres in Melur educational district and 57 centres in Madurai educational district.

G. Swathika, a student who wrote four of her examinations from hospital bed, after suffering 60 per cent burns in a fire at home, was recovering fast.

“Her condition is much better now. She insisted on writing Social Science examination herself, but we provided a scribe,” said Ms. Amuthavalli.

Evaluation of Plus Two answer sheets would come to an end on Saturday, she added.

A total of 37,164 students in the three educational districts wrote the Plus Two examinations conducted from March 3 to March 24.
