The department of education has decided to organise special classes for weak students studying in 10th standard throughout the district to help them appear for the common examinations without any fear. The department would instil confidence among the students that they could also score high marks on par with others with the conduct of special classes.
According to Chief Educational Officer Radhakrishnan, the officials as well as a team of teachers had already undertaken a survey. As many as 14,889 students were identified to be weak in their studies in 10th standard (9 unions). As many as 2379 students have been identified to be very weak in Tamil, 3481 students in English, 3539 students in Mathematics, 2315 students in Science and 3175 students in Social science.
Hence it has been decided to conduct special classes for four days from January 12 in all the unions to motivate the students.
The education department has selected Nagercoil D.V.D. Government Higher Secondary School to conduct special classes for the benefit of students belonging to Agastheeswaram union.
Students would be taught mathematics on January 12, English on January 13, Science on January 14 morning and Tamil on the same day afternoon and Social Science on January 15.
Sethu Lakshmi Bai Government Higher Secondary School in Nagercoil would be the venue for the classes for students belonging to Thovalai union. Government Higher Secondary School at Thuckalay has been selected for the students of Thuckalay union and Arunachalam Higher Secondary School at Thiruvattar has been selected for the benefit of students belonging to Thiruvattar union.
Similarly A.V.T. Higher Secondary School at Ganapathipuram has been selected to conduct special classes for the students of Rajakkamangalam union and Colachel St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School has been selected for the students of Kurunthencode union. Moreover, Government Higher Secondary School for boys at Marthandam has been selected to conduct special classes for the students of Melpuram Union and Government Higher Secondary School at Munchirai has been selected for the students of Munchirai union.
Hence the CEO has appealed to the students to make use of this opportunity to score high marks in the 10th standard common annual examinations.
