Security up ahead of CM’s visit

Madurai has come under a security blanket ahead of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s visit here on Friday.

The CM is coming here to participate in a function organised by farmers’ associations to thank her for getting permission to raise storage of water up to 142 feet in Periyar reservoir. The meeting, arranged on the Ring Road, has come under increased police surveillance. ADGP (Law and Order) T.K. Rajendran, IGP (Internal Security) P. Kannappan and others inspected the venue.

As many as 2,000 police personnel have been deployed. Thirteen State Ministers have arrived in the city for the meeting scheduled for 4.30 p.m.
