Ahead of Aadi Ammavasai festival of Sundaramahalingam Swamy Temple at Sathuragiri, preparations are in full swing to provide amenities and safety measures for devotees.
Located in the southern part of Western Ghats between Sivagiri, Vishnugiri, Bhrahmagiri and Siddhagiri mountains, the temple in Sathuragiri hills is visited by at least 350 devotees on weekdays and more than 1,500 during weekends.
Collector L. Subramanian and a team of officials inspected the on-going construction works as well as the safety measures in place for devotees, ahead of the inflow of devotees from August 12 to 14 during the festival. Around one lakh devotees are expected to descend on Sathuragiri hills on that day.
A high-mast light is being erected at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh. A dispensary to handle emergencies and a resting house for devotees on the foothills of Sathuragiri are being constructed.
To provide drinking water facilities for the devotees, a borewell and a tank with a capacity of 30,000 litres has been built. The officials also inspected availability of parking space for the devotees’ vehicles.
