Rs. 125 crore for super speciality block

The Centre will contribute Rs. 125 crore for a super speciality block proposed at Thoppur here for upgrading the Government Medical College, Madurai.

In a communication to the Virudhunagar MP, B. Manicka Tagore, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, said that the project was taken up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The concept plan had been approved and the tender for civil work would be floated shortly. Mr. Azad was replying to a question raised by Mr. Tagore in the Lok Sabha recently.
