A 10-year-old girl Harsha Nivetha has made an attempt to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records with her Scale Pose (elevated lotus posture) in yoga for longest period of 174 seconds.

The girl, studying 5th standard, attempted this at P.S. Chidambara Nadar Senior English School here on Friday.

A prodigy in yoga, Nivetha has been involved with yoga since the age of five years and has won several laurels in district, state and national levels.

“The previous record on scale posture — lifting the entire body with both legs crossed using two hands — was held by a woman from US. She had held herself above ground in this pose for 90 seconds. But, Nivetha in her attempt to break it did it for 174 seconds,” said Radhakrishnan, Director of International Yoga Federation of Asia.

Radhakrishnan, a yoga exponent in Malaysia, was a witness to the world record bid along with two doctors and two engineers.

The school Secretary Koodalingam, Principal Shanthi and Yoga teacher Indhra and students appreciated her achievement.
