The 51 Raising Day of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was celebrated with fanfare at the Recruits Training Centre located at Iluppaikudi village in Sivaganga district, near here, on Wednesday. The celebration began with the hoisting of ITBP flag by R. K. Parariya, Deputy Inspector General. This was followed by various competitions for the jawans. Mr. Parariya distributed prizes to the winners.

The ITBP was raised as an elite central armed police force on October 24, 1962 after the Chinese aggression. At present, 500 recruits are undergoing training here. The ITBP had organised a band display at the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple during the Chithirai festival.
