Madurai witnessed a brief spell of rain on Wednesday.

Residents said that there was a little movement of vehicles on the roads during this period. Rain in northern part of the city lasted for about 20 to 25 minutes while it continued to drizzle for an hour thereafter.

K. Balachander ,who owns a computer firm near Anna Bus Stand, said that he loved to see more rain. “It was unfortunate that there was insufficient rain. Hopefully, there would be more rain soon,” he said.

Siddharth Subramanian, a resident of SS Colony, said that the southern part of the city saw very little rain. He said that there was heavy downpour for about 10 minutes and there was no rain thereafter. Many citizens hope that the city would be blessed with more showers sooner than later as it is severely starved of groundwater.
