The Keezhavalvu police have booked a temple priest for forgery for printing fake archana tickets and collecting rent from shops attached to a temple in the locality.

Based on a complaint lodged by the thakkar of Sri Mathai Karuppanasamy Temple in Uranganpatti R. Gnanasekaran, the Keezhavalvu police have booked K. Gurumurthy on the charge of forging receipts and using them as genuine for cheating.

The police said that the incident had happened in 2015.

Meanwhile, in another cheating case in Usilampatti, the police arrested Vijayakumar (47) of Coimbatore for having cheated a doctor on the promise of helping him get Rs.10 crore loan for cheap rate of interest.

The police said that the doctor D. Balamurali had approached Vijayakumar for Rs.10-crore loan to construct a hospital in the town.

Vijayakumar promised that he had a friend through whom he could divert foreign funds for his loan. He also demanded Rs.1 lakh for the same and took the money.

However, he did not fulfil his promise and failed to return Rs.1 lakh.

When the doctor attempted to ask for money, Vijayakumar reportedly threatened him with dire consequences.

The police are on the lookout for three more accused.
