A preparatory camp was conducted for the youth aspiring to join the Indian Army at the indoor stadium of Race Course on Saturday.

Collector Anshul Mishra said that such an exposure would help the youth to appear in the examination and interview with ease. The candidates could familiarise themselves with the selection procedure.

He talked about the valiant deed of 31-year-old Perumal, a CRPF jawan, who hailed from Madurai district, who was killed in firing recently.

The large turnout of youngsters was gratifying, Mr. Mishra said and added that more than an avenue for employment, military service was an opportunity to serve the nation.

There were many divisions in the Indian Army for which youth were required. By taking advantage of the camp-cum-training, the aspirants could do well in the examinations to be held in May, he added.

Army officers addressed the youth. The general rules of the tests were explained at the camp. ADSP Myil Vaganan, Rahul Jha from the Indian Army, PA (Agriculture) Jayasingh Gnanadurai and District Sports Officer Murugan addressed the aspirants.
