As many as 12,000 polling personnel attended daylong training programmes at the 10 Assembly segments in Madurai district on Saturday.
The programmes were conducted at Melur, Usilampatti, Tirumangalam, Tirupparankundram, Sholavandan, Madurai East, Madurai West, Madurai North, Madurai South and Madurai Central.
Polling will take place in 2,650 polling booths in the district on April 24.
The polling personnel, mostly teachers and officials, were shown videos on the process of casting votes and how the electronic voting machine (EVM) worked.
The participants were divided into batches of 25 each.
They were briefed on how to manage the polling booths and how to effectively communicate with the voters.
Tahsildars and senior officials from the district administration briefed them on all the polling procedures.
They asked the polling personnel to coordinate with the Election Department and mange the problems effectively.
