Police security to AIADMK MLA’s house in Madurai

The MLA is currently away in Chennai attending the Assembly session

October 30, 2013 12:31 pm | Updated 12:31 pm IST - MADURAI:

Ruling AIADMK legislator A.K. Bose has been provided with security at his residence at Jeeva Nagar, Jaihindpuram, following a bomb threat.

A letter, purportedly written by the “younger brothers” of terror suspect ‘Police’ Fakruddin and addressed to the Jaihindpuram police station, claimed that they had targeted the Madurai North constituency MLA – said to be close to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa – to avenge the arrest of Fakruddin.

The bomb detection and disposal squad conducted a thorough search of the house. The MLA is currently away in Chennai attending the Assembly session.

Last month, CPI(M) MLA R. Annadurai (Madurai South), who complained of receiving threat calls after enquiring into malpractices at ration shops, was provided with personal security.
