Mini-marathon for blood donation

More than a thousand people, predominantly students from educational institutions across Madurai district, took part in the mini-marathon organized by the Blood Donors Club of Government Rajaji Hospital here on Friday.

Addressing the gathering before flagging off the event, Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao appealed to all the youngsters to donate blood once in few months.

Among male students, Madhesh from American College Higher Secondary School, came first in the mini-marathon while S. Vinoth from Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu hostel stood second. Among girls, S. Neelambari from Lady Doak College (LDC) won the first prize while the second prize was shared by Yogasree of LDC and Kannikaparameswari of Kakkai Padiniyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School.

The rolling trophy for participation of maximum number of students in the mini-marathon competition went to S. Vellaichamy Nadar College.
