The district police have arrested a 31-year-old man for having sexually abused his 12-year-old daughter.
The police said that the father of three children had been harassing the girl, studying standard VII in a local school, for the past six months. A relative of the girl had called up Childline and alerted the officials.
“The girl had a pathetic story to narrate. Her mother who was aware of the abuse was threatened by the accused of murdering her and the children,” the Childline Coordinator, Stephen, said. The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee and sent to a home. The accused was arrested under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
