Madurai dental hospital signs MoU with German firm

A city-based dental hospital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a German company for procuring dental implants.

Collector L. Subramanian, who inaugurated a new lab facility on the fifth anniversary of Nala Dental Hospital here on Wednesday, said with changing lifestyle and food habits, people of all ages should give priority to oral hygiene. Latest technologies were being introduced in all branches of medical field world over, but only early detection could cure the patient of certain illnesses, he pointed out.

Speaking on the occasion, dentist J. Kanna Peruman said poor oral hygiene and improper maintenance of teeth and gums might lead to dental problems. For instance, ill-fitting denture might lead to ulcer. If it was not attended to immediately, it might lead to other serious complications, he noted.

The advanced dental implants, procured through the MoU, would keep the teeth intact. The MoU would also result in collaborative research, exchange of knowledge, clinical trials and continuing educational courses. The advanced dental implants would be effective for people who lost their front teeth in accidents and the cure would be faster with such implants, Dr.Kanna Peruman said.

Similarly, these implants would also help sportspersons, who suffered dental injuries, restart their field activities faster, he added.
