The load shedding time has been officially increased to three hours with effect from Sunday in the city and suburban locations, officials of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) said.

In a bid to tide over the power situation in the State, the officials resorted to two-hour load shedding until Saturday in all cities (except Chennai). With not much improvement in the power generation and the demand rising steadily on the other hand, the TNEB authorities are caught in a quagmire.

Consumers irked

While, the officials maintained that they would stick to the load shedding schedule beginning Sunday, the unannounced power cut, especially, since the last week, had irked the consumers.

Apart from the trade and industry, the student community is also badly hit by the disorderly cut since the public examinations are under way.
