Life convicts in Madurai jail among rank holders

Two life convicts from Madurai Central Prison have secured second and third ranks among 54 convicts from prisons all over the State, who appeared for the examinations.

G. Dinesh Kumar has secured the second rank with 943 marks and D. Rajiv Gandhi has come third with 931 marks in total, said K. Selvaraj, who is in-charge of teaching the prisoners. Mr. Kumar has scored 153 marks in Tamil, 180 in English, 134 in History, 151 in Commerce, 143 in Accountancy and 180 in Economics. Mr. Gandhi has scored 159 marks in Tamil, 181 in English, 132 in History, 138 in Commerce, 147 in Accountancy and 174 in Economics. Both of them have expressed interest in pursuing B.A. History.

R. Arivudainambi, Superintendent of the Madurai Central Prison, distributed sweets to the convicts and congratulated them.

The first rank among the prisoners has been secured by a life convict in Puzhal Central Prison.

Four convicts from Palayamkottai Central Prison were among the 54 convicts, who had written the examination at the Puzhal Central Prison in March 2014. All four have passed.
