The Hindu Temple Protection Committee has come out against ISO 9001: 2008 certification for Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here.

The committee's State General Secretary P. Sundaravadivel said that ancestors had already written how the thousands of year old Meenakshi temple must be managed. The temple authorities must only follow those norms.

Further, he said that the temple authorities should consult devotees before taking decisions. He said that the temple was not a commercial institution for getting ISO certification.

The committee warned that unless the certification was returned, it would stage protests.
