The district unit of the Hindu Munnani opposed to actor Kamal Haasan visiting the ‘No 1 Mandapam Panchayat union middle school’, the alma mater of former President A.P. J. Abdul Kalam when he launch his political journey from the Rameswaram island on February 21.

Stating that Mr. Haasan scheduled to visit the school at 8 15 a.m. after calling on Mr Kalam’s elder brother at House of Kalam in Rameswaram according to his tour itinerary, Hindu Munnani District secretary K. Ramamurthy said the Munnani was opposed to actors and politicians using the school as a political platform.

In a petition presented to Collector S. Natarajan here on Monday, he said politicians of different parties would have different policies and opinions and if they were allowed to visit the school and address the students, there would be confusion in the minds of the students, he said.

The Collector should deny permission to the actor-politician to visit the school in the interest of the students, he said.
