For the benefit of patients visiting the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here, a ‘May I Help You’ desk will be opened on the premises by the hospital administration on Tuesday.
S.P. Suba, Assistant Resident Medical Officer (ARMO), GRH, said the desk would be of great help to the patients coming from rural pockets, who were often finding it difficult to reach various departments and wards in the hospital. “Following complaints from the visitors in this regard, we came up with the idea of putting in place a help desk,” Ms.Suba said.
The new desk will come up near the outpatient block on the ground floor. More such help desks would come up at various points soon, the hospital authorities said.
“Every time I came to the hospital I got lost. It took at least 15 minutes for me to locate the ward I wanted to go to. There would be no one to direct us. I appreciate the authorities for setting up a help desk,” said Suresh Kumar (30), an outpatient from Kallampatti village.
So far, a total of 103 persons have been hired by the hospital administration to regulate traffic and offer security-related services at the hospital. They will be present at all important junctions inside and outside the hospital.
Padmavathi Hospitality and Facilities Management Services, a Chennai-based organisation, has provided the hospital with housekeeping and security personnel.
The GRH caters to around 10,000 outpatients from across southern districts every day.
