About 20 members of Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association (TNGEA) organised a protest outside the Government Rajaji Hospital here on Wednesday, in solidarity with nurses who are on strike across the State.

Tamil, one of the protesters, said this was the first time the nurses were going on strike in such large numbers.

“We must support their stand. They care for us when we are unwell. They deserve pay revision,” he said.

Contract nurses continued their protest for the third day, which affected healthcare delivery.

They have been demanding higher salaries, permanent jobs and eight-hour shift.
