Good response to Corporate Cricket League tourney in Madurai

The third edition of Corporate Cricket League, organised by Madurai Round Table (MRT-14), was conducted, in league-cum-knock-out basis, on the Vickram College of Engineering and Polytechnic grounds here on Saturday.

MRT-14, a part of Round Table India, consists of men between 18 and 40 years.It has been active in Madurai for the past 46 years. Its Chairman Arun Arunachalam said that the event was conducted for the third consecutive year. It had 16 teams last year. “We have got 28 teams this year and we expect more next year.”

Its Vice-Chairman and Joint Director of Vickram CE, Vikram said that the motto was to raise funds and build classrooms for government schools, old age homes, orphanages and support under privileged children by sponsoring their education. Even outside Madurai we have refurbished an entire school affected by floods in Chennai and are targeting 100 schools there.

In view of rain, the finals were not conducted. Aravind Eye Hospital and Abhii Honda were declared joint winners of the tournament which was played in five overs a side format.

The event sponsor was Torino while media partner was The Hindu .
