A school girl has become a philanthropist by contributing her hard-earned money to develop a maternity ward at Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH). A class IX student of Little Diamonds School, 14-year-old N. Sangeetha, during her leisure time, used to train the children of an orphan centre near Tirunagar by teaching them painting and craft making skills.
Moreover, the paintings and craft work done by those children were sold to the public and the money earned through that sale, reached Rs.10,000 and Sangeetha had thought that this money should be used for a larger social cause and donated it to Collector Anshul Mishra on Thursday to be used for GRH.
Mr.Mishra appreciated the girl for her philanthropic gesture and also for helping the students to nurture their art making skills. He further said that this effort which has turned the beneficiaries into benefactors is indeed a starting point.
He called upon the youth to emulate the girl by contributing to the society’s development and also to cultivate various skills. Sheeba Joseph, Principal, was present during the occasion of handing over the cheque.
