A chain-snatcher was nabbed at Ayyankottai near Vadipatti on Wednesday late evening.

Police said that while a woman, K. Senthil Selvi (40), was walking towards a grocery shop around 7 p.m., three persons who followed her suddenly snatched her four-sovereign chain. The woman caught hold of the chain and a major portion of it remained in her fist while the culprits escaped with a small part.

When the woman raised an alarm, passers-by chased them.

While two managed to escape under the cover of darkness, one of them tripped and fell down while running through a farm.

He was admitted to a hospital. The police are yet to establish his identity and the other two at large.
