“Familiarise children with traditional food”

August 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:17 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Familiarisation of children, especially the teens, with traditional food is the need of the hour, according to A. Shanmugiah, Programme Head, Nagercoil All India Radio Local Station.

Addressing a seminar on “Traditional Food and Yoga” organised by Yoga and Human Resource Centre at Nagercoil on Saturday, Mr. Shanmugiah said that there has been a rise in health complications among people, especially among growing children. There are so many varieties of traditional foods which have vanished and this was a cause for concern. One has to develop the practice of eating traditional food, as it helps to keep the body and mind healthy.

The participants were given Varaghu Vadai, Pepper Pongal and health mixes at the seminar.
