Bus shelter will be ready soon

The district administration should expedite the work on civic amenities in Uthapuram village and particularly the construction of drainage which has been getting delayed, said R. Annadurai, M.L.A., Madurai South.

The M.L.A., along with former CPI (M) M.L.A., S. K. Mahendran and K. Samuel Raj, state secretary, Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front visited the village on Sunday to inspect the ongoing construction of bus shelter and drainage.

Satisfied with the construction of bus shelter which would be over in a week or two, the team stated that given the prevailing situation of camaraderie among the communities after a long period of time, the district administration can bring in much more solidarity by expediting the work.

Mr. Annadurai said that his party had been impressing upon the State Government and the district administration to comply with the High Court directive on the issue which asked the administration to implement the amenities in two weeks time.

The State government has given special funds for Madurai Corporation and in those lines, government should provide special funds for the socio-economic development of the village like providing loans, financial assistance and taking up various development works and to improve the livelihood of the villagers to ensure everlasting peace in the village, besides putting into use the common pathway.

They also demanded that the government should also build a ration shop in the Dalit locality and also construct a bridge to connect the community hall.
