District Collector Anshul Mishra released the draft electoral roll for the Madurai district on Monday.
The district has 10 assembly segments namely Melur, Madurai East, Sholavandan, Madurai North, Madurai South, Madurai Central, Madurai West, Thiruparankundram, Thirumangalam and Usilampatti respectively.
According to the data, the total number of electorate from all the 10 assembly constituencies was 21, 98, 037 including 10, 98, 320 men and 10, 99, 703 women voters. There are 14 transgender persons registered in the district draft roll.
The women voters outnumbered men marginally in the total electorate and women were in more numbers at least in six assembly segments than men.
The public can have access to the draft electoral roll which would be available at all the local bodies’ offices in the district till October 31. Any addition, deletion and alteration to the existing draft roll by any individual could be carried out through separate forms available with the offices.
Special camps have also been proposed to be held during October 7, 14 and 21 (all Sundays) to facilitate more people to benefit.
In all, the camps would be held in 1,084 locations through out the district during the month, which include some of the polling stations as well, Mr. Anshul Mishra said and added that the final voter list would be released on January 5, 2013.
The draft rolls were received by RDO (Usilampatti) S. Shanthi and other officials from the election wing, a press release said.
