Appeals to cadres of DMK and allies to work for his victory

V. Velusamy, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s Lok Sabha candidate for Madurai constituency has assured to set up industries, which would pave way for more employment and usher in industrialisation in southern districts. After garlanding the statues of national leaders in the city on Wednesday, Mr. Velusamy, who was accompanied by a large number of DMK cadres and cadres of its alliance partners from Tallakulam, said that Madurai, which is popularly known as “thoonga nagaram” (city, which never goes to sleep) from time immemorial, should become a happening place and regain its position. Youngsters, especially the educated, were seeking jobs outside Madurai. “If I am elected, I will set up major industries in this heritage town,” he said. He appealed to the DMK cadres and allies to work for the victory of all the candidates in Tamil Nadu and thus strengthen the hands of party supremo M. Karunanidhi. Even as he uttered the name of M.K. Stalin, the cadres applauded in unison and hailed him as the future Chief Minister. Flanked by leaders including Pon Muthuramalingam, P. Moorthy, P. Kulandaivelu, A.Tamilarasi and others, Mr. Velusamy also said he had good knowledge about the needs of Madurai and the people.

“My party had given me a chance to contest from Madurai Lok Sabha constituency way back in 1989…Hence, I can prioritise them and implement. Similarly, as an MLA I had discharged my duties from this city with public support, and it would certainly help me handle public issues effectively,” he added.
