The Cultural Department of the Russian Federation in Chennai organised an awareness and counselling session for students and parents on pursuing courses in engineering and medicine in Russia, here on Sunday.
Syed Ali, student counsellor at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, said the number of students opting medicine in Russia from India had been steadily increasing in the last five years.
“The total fees, including tuition fee and accommodation charge, do not exceed Rs. 20 lakh for the five-year-and-eight-month course. The knowledge of Russian is also not necessary,” he said.
Stating that 18 of the 42 medical universities in Russia were recognised in India, he said many graduates chose to come back and work in India.
