Corporation officials have procured two more new sand removers to keep the city clean.

Seeing the equipment in action at a few places, Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar and his team said that the sand removers would not only remove sand on roadside but also bushes and stones that blocked pathway. Sand accumulated on the roadside near Aavin junction was cleared on Tuesday. Subsequently, the machine was moved to neighbouring Sathamangalam stretch.

Later, when the Commissioner visited Gomathipuram, the Residents Welfare Association members made a representation to him to develop underground drainage facility in the extension area. Assuring them that the Corporation would take it up provided the residents parted with a share of the total cost and remitted the deposit, he directed the health department officials to issue notices to residents who led sewer in open pits.

Later, at a function organised at the Corporation Illango School on Panagal Road to distribute separate containers (blue and green colour) for waste segregation, Dr. Aneesh Sekhar interacted with the students.

Many students reciprocated well to the suggestions from the young IAS officer.

When an answer from a boy impressed the Commissioner, he instantly presented him with his pen amidst applause from the gathering.

The bins were supplied by a private trust - Sri Priya Gardeners. Dr. Rengarajan, President, Sri Priya Gardeners, Parthiban, Assistant City Health Officer, and others participated, a release said.
