As part of the festive season, the Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society (Co-optex) began a special Christmas sale at four showrooms here on Tuesday.

The sale was inaugurated at the Co-optex South Chithirai Street Showroom by R. Arockiaraj, Parish priest at St. Mary’s Church.

All customers can avail themselves of a 30 per cent discount across all the products in the showrooms including saris, dress materials, bedspreads, shirt materials and nighties.

Among the saris on display, the soft silk saris and light-weight saris which are priced attractively are a huge draw among the customers, said salespersons at the showroom.

An official with the Co-optex, Madurai, said that while a Rs.295-lakh sales target has been fixed for the festival sale which will be held through New Year and Pongal for the four showrooms in the city, a sales target of Rs.98 lakh has been fixed for the South Chithirai Street Showroom alone. Apart from the festive discount, government employees are also eligible to avail themselves of an interest-free monthly instalment scheme at the showrooms.
