The body of a construction worker, who went missing a couple of days ago, was retrieved from a dry irrigation tank near Kalakkad on Wednesday. Police said construction worker M. Arunachalam (22) of Subramaniapuram near Kalakkad went missing on Monday after he went out along with a couple of friends. Since he failed to return home, his family members searched for him but in vain. Against this backdrop, the body of Arunachalam, bearing a few injuries, was found lying in the dry irrigation tank at Padalayaarkulam on Wednesday noon.

Seeking the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the murder, the relatives of Arunachalam staged a road roko at Padalayaarkulam.

After the police pacified the protestors, the agitation was withdrawn and the body was sent to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

Kalakkad police are investigating.
