Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will witness jallikattu at Alanganallur near here on Tuesday. His visit has prompted officials to repair city roads, many of which were in a very bad shape for months together.

After the recent rains, even when people were put to untold hardship due to the bad roads, the civic authorities and highways department did nothing but maintained that they were awaiting funds from the government for laying roads. However, after the district administration received a communication that the CM and Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam would witness the Alanganallur jallikattu, the city roads are fast getting a makeover.

Minister for Cooperation Sellur K Raju said the CM would arrive by road from Salem around 10.30 p.m. on Monday and leave for Alanganallur by 7.30 a.m. the following day. He would leave the venue around 10 a.m. to leave for Chennai by air.

Following the visit of the CM, speed breakers on the convoy route have vanished and welcome banners of the AIADMK have cropped up on the Paravai-Circuit House-Alanganallur route.
