In a shocking incident, a minor boy stabbed a Plus One student for having reportedly teased his teenage sister at Karuvelampatti village near Tirunagar here on Tuesday night.
A Plus Two student, who tried to prevent the sudden attack on his friend, also sustained minor injuries.
Inspector of Police (Tirunagar Circle) S. Sankar said the accused, a school dropout, was angered with the Plus One boy as he had allegedly harassed his sister, ignoring his warning. The victim is said to have teased the girl, also a Plus One student, while she was on her way to school at Tirunagar.
The accused, who was employed in a workshop, had made a knife on his own with an intention to attack the Plus One student.
On Tuesday evening, the accused had spotted the student along with his friend in an isolated place in the village. He suddenly pounced on him and repeatedly stabbed him. The victim’s friend tried to prevent him. However, the Plus One student was stabbed on his neck, ribs and a few other places.
While the boy with stab injuries has been admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital here, his friend was treated as an out-patient at the Government Hospital in Tirumangalam.
The Inspector said all the three from the same village under Austinpatti police station limits were relatives. Police nabbed the accused boy and recovered the knife from him. He was sent to the juvenile home here.
Recently, a higher secondary school student in Nilakottai in Dindigul district was done to death by his classmate over a petty issue on the school campus following which the school was closed fearing trouble.
