A corpus fund to assist the kin of our batchmates in need of help would be established soon, said alumni members at the meeting. The proposal was mooted at the alumni meet of law graduates who had passed out from the Madurai Law College in the 83-86 batch.

About 70 members of the batch met on Sunday in a hotel here in which two district judges, a former MLA, many leading advocates practising in the Madras High Court and those serving in government departments attended.

P.A. Steeven Raj and some of his friends, who were instrumental in organising such an event said, “instead of just sharing our good old memories, we felt like helping the kin of our own batchmates, who required assistance.

The batchmates after the interaction also paid a trip to the Madurai Law College. The members felicitated the former principals Alagirisamy and Chandrasekar.

Some other members, including C.M. Chokalingam, J. Sureshkumar among others, described the re-union as an enriching experience as it took them back to the student days on the campus almost three decades ago.
